So really, Kerry wasn’t calling the troops dumb, he was suggesting that we need to use torture in education as well as interrogation.
UPDATE: My handwriting sucks, as does my grammar planning. (Perhaps I shouldn’t make the “I’m going to draw this comic with a pen” commitment.)
What it’s supposed to say is: “That, young Johnny Kerry, is what students who don’t apply themselves get stuck in.” Also, it’s supposed to be the office of a school’s Headmaster, and that device is supposed to be “a rack.”
And that’s funny because it sure sounds like that’s what Kerry said. And because I’ve completely twisted the controversy. And because little Johnny Kerry has a really long face.
I suck.
I’m still kind of figuring things out here. The characters were drawn on actual paper, then scanned in and “inked” and colored in the GIMP. Then the actual comic layout was done in inkscape, which made text and balloons exponentially nicer-looking and easier to tweak. I’m not completely pleased with the 4-panel layout on this one, having loads of trouble squeezing in all the text. I’m sick of messing with it though, so I’m calling it done. If it isn’t obvious, the premise here is that all the questions Sam gets asked are from QT movies, and his knowledge serves him well, up til the end anyway.
Seriously, does anyone think those commercials are a good idea? I mean, Macs are cool and all.. but do Mac users really identify more with an idiot with spikey hair than they do with one of the finest minds of our generation? I mean come on.
Here’s another example of the stupid crap I’m always coming up with. I’m really beginning to see the power of what one can accomplish in just three panels.
This is another experiment… Today, I am letting MySpace do the writing, and Flickr do the “drawing.” Well, with a little help from the GIMP, anyway.

This is an oldie, and not exactly a comic, but I’m experimenting here with what exactly a comic is. At the moment, I’m of the opinion that anything that combines words and images is a comic. So maybe it is.
